Instead we crucify the messenger as menace

In ancient history there was a sovereign village
Impaired with poverty; their alms raised to the privileged
The royal nobility had only want of pillage
And use the young in wars to settle petty skirmishes

A little girl unlocked a genie from a skillet
I’m from an olden time and now I’ve paid my penance
I’ll grant the world eternal peace if you just will it
So naturally they apprehend the djinn and kill it

It’s all so glorious

So pour the blood until your cups have over filleth
And toast the olden gods like Astaroth and Lilith
And drink to all the fiends and all the fallen villains
